First of all, I would like to say that on Bright Authority, we are not always going to just separate out blog posts into neat subject areas as such. For example, this post is very much about Content Curation, but the incorporation of social media marketing techniques are vital to make an effective content marketing strategy. Without one, the other is pretty useless.

To that end, the first strategy which may be an option is to not only curate content but also spread this curated content in the best way possible. Of course, using the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest is essential to do this. Discovering the right content to curate is half the battle as you are going to try and share this on social networking platforms.

You have to then get inside the niche market and inside the mind’s of people who would be interested in reading your curated content. You can’t just expect to discover a piece of content, comment on it, put it on your social profiles and expect fans to rush to read what you have to say.

You have to earn trust, or as we say on this site “authority.” A Bright Authority is someone who should have excellent knowledge and bright ideas about the market they are in, and therefore curating content, as well as providing your own insights, should not be any trouble, as you will spot good content when you see it.

There is still a lot of work to do though. You need to ensure people hear about you. With hundreds of millions of people on social media, you need to be able to stand out from the crowd, and the best way to do this is to identify other authorities within your niche who you can interact with. You need to work hard at this, become part of their community, comment and praise their work, and then offer suggestions of your own. Their fans and followers will soon begin to recognize you as another person to look out for, and they will begin to follow your posts, and the content you put up.

You are not in any way making a sales pitch, you are making it very clear to your fans you are there to socialize and to share content thay they will like. Openness is key, if you can be sociable and helpful to your followers, your fans are only likely to grow. An important aspect of this is through curating content. Sharing information from others which your own fans will enjoy. It not only puts you in the good books of those following you, but also those that created the content in the first place. Curate content, share content, social marketing, build community and expand your audience!
